By using VRML and two-dimensional plant image database, three-dimensional forest landscape visualization systems that include the function of three-dimensional digital plant modeling were developed. Server side generation of VRML program was also studied. Forest landscape can be accurately simulated using these systems. With this visualization system, we visualized real forest landscapes to confirm the validity of the system. We also simulated a variety of forest landscapes by the visualization system. The visualization system allowed us to perform real-time rendering of forest landscape according to the change of viewpoints. We were able to intuitively realize the forest landscape by the images produced by the system and confirm the accuracy of the data.
