Lightning location system and its application

摘要

The lightning location system (LLS) where the GPS, GIS and other high-tech techniques are applied is a real-time system to monitor the lightning activities in controlled area. LLS can provide the occurring time, position and other physical parameters of lightning and display in electronic map, and can foresee the lightning in controlled area by processing these parameters. In China, the individual LLS have been established in twenty-two provinces, it provides an efficient tool for quick fault location, and is brought a great deal benefits. It provides the anti-lightning design basis for the power system by the accumulation and analysis of lightning data from the LLS. It is also a great contribution from the LLS by prediction of lightning for the power system safety operation. By now, it is developed three generations of the LLS, it has ours own knowledge property right and is going to establish the national lightning information network to server for the electricity, meteorological department, civil aviation, telecommunications and etc., also it can provide the lightning information for the social precaution of natural calamities network and public lightning information. And it can provide long-term lightning data for the meteorological science, lightning protection research.
