A case for tensile specifications in the steel rod and wire industry

High carbon steel wire has traditionally been drawn from hot-rolled rods manufactured to specified chemical ranges. Several years ago the specifications were re-crafted to designate tensile strength ranges. The results, to date, have been very favorable. This paper highlights the development and use of tensile specifications in the rod and wire industry.
