Composite choke and kill lines are being developed under a cooperative a cooperative effort between Lincoln Composites and Stewart and Stevenson. Replacement of existing steel auxiliary lines on a drilling riser string will result in weight savings that will allow second generation mobile offshore drilling units to operate in 6,000 feet of water depth without major upgrades. The design, manufacture and testing of 3" and 4.5" composite choke and kill lines are discussed.
