Ten Kilograms of sodium fluorescein were injected into a borehole in the Gypsum layer of the Gachsaran Formation to determine the watertightness of this formation in the reservoir of Symareh dam. Most of the dye was detected in a temporary spring emerging from the Gachsaran Formation. The experiment reveals that the Gypsum part of Gachsaran Formation is karstified near the ground surface since weathering and Karstification are more active near the ground surface and the marly layer shows impermeable characteristics at the contact of the Gachsaran and Asmari Formations. The type of flow from the Gachsaran Formation to the underlying karstified limestone is diffuse.
