Nouvelle generation de spatiocartes forestieres syntheses

The Direction des inventaires forestiers of Foret Quebec of the ministere des Ressources naturelles produced a few years ago a set of generalized forest satellite image maps. A new generation has just been produced with images acquired mainly in 1999 and 2000. Up to date remote sensing and geomatics data and software were used. These generalized forest satellite image maps bring together an enhanced image of the forest and thematic data including types of forest cover, access roads to the forest, forest management boundaries, etc. This text explains the methodology used, the main steps and the results.
