While stereo music reproduction was a dramatic advance over mono, recently a transition to multi-channel audio has created a more involving experience for listeners. A new method to enhance the conversion from stereo to multichannel sound reproduction is presented. A better sound distribution to the surround channels is achieved by using cross-correlation technique, and a stable center image is obtained using Principal Component Analysis.
