DREDGING SAND AS AN ECONOMIC ALTERNATIVE FOR SOCIAL ACHIEVEMENT

Though we have limited this study to the Moroccan North Atlantic Coast only, without considering the Mediterranean one, it appears that the dredging sand activity is likely to lead to an achievement of important social and economic benefits: 1. AS A DIRECT FINANCIAL BENEFIT: 1.1 120 Million US $/Year. 2. AS ECONOMIC BENEFITS 2.1 Promotion of construction development, contributing to enhance responses to resolve housing deficits, infrastructure level, inducting a new development of tourism industry and increasing roads users safety and satisfaction. 2.2 Booster of sustainable economic growth. 2.3 Dredging companies will be better off sustaining their basic activity, and they will enhance ports services by reinforcing their competitive advantages. Finally, this approach is technically and economically feasible and profitable not only for all the community's prosperity, but for the dredging companies as well!
