Technical breakthroughs in the areas of research and equipment enable manufactures to push the threshold of web product design and productivity further than ever imagined. However, the rubber roll, common to virtually all web machines, has been overlooked and underestimated in its importance to the finished product. This paper will examine the misconceptions about rubber rollers. The paper will discuss various types of rubber compounds and in what applications they are applicable. Finally, the paper will demonstrate how good rubber rollers can lower operational costs while increasing productivity and quality.
