This paper has described the electrospinning process, the processing conditions, fiber morphology and some possible use of PVA. The different type of PVA fibers were obtained in nano-scale(50~250nm) by changing concentration, voltage and distance. The fibers were found to be efficiently cross-linked by glyoxal during the curing process. Phosphoric acid was observed as a catalyst activator to suppress strength losses in the cross-linking process. Differential scanning calorimetric(DSC), thermogravimetric(TGA), scanning electron micrograph(SEM) and fourier transform infared(FTIR) techniques were employed to characterize the PVA fibers.
