A Voice Enhancer for Voice Activated Control of A/V Entertainment System

When voice activated control is applied to audio/video entertainment system, such as Hi-Fi, home theatre system, TV, etc., the voice signal acquired by the microphone is highly contaminated by the audio signal from the entertainment system. As a result the signal-to-noise ratio is too low to be used in voice/speech recognition. One of solutions to tackle this problem is to enhance the voice signal by using adaptive filter. In this paper an adaptive filter system is proposed to enhance the stereo audio signal. As a pre-processor for the voice activated control module, this enhancer is able to reduce stereo audio signal by 15 to 25 dB.
