In the paper analysis of optimal scanning mode (for field frequency, frame format, number of scanning lines etc) and target reading/preparation methods is performed for pyroelectric vidicon (PEV) based thermovision system. The effective 4-field operating cycle, which can be used with a new PEV type pyroelectric modulation effect tube (PEMET) is proposed.
