Fine Clad Technology and Activities in the Battery Field

摘要

"Clad" is the method of bonding more than two metals, which have different characteristics. You can add the various functions on the metal with cladding. The demand of cladded materials is growing up, however, the requirement on functions against cladded material is getting diversity and complicated. There are several kind of cladding process now. But Toyo Kohan has developed a new process of cladding, which is called "Fine Clad" with "Surface Activated Bonding" method (SAB). SAB is the process that 1. activating the surface of metals with of dry-etching process, 2. cladding activated side of metals with little pressure. A principle of SAB is shown in Fig.1. Hereby we introduce the characteristic of Fine Clad and examples of application in the battery field.
