A Crossing Proposal for the Lake Lugano for the new AlpTransit Railway across the Alps

A new railway line across the Alps (AlpTransit Gotthard) is presently under construction. The first phase includes three base tunnels, with the longest reaching a length of 57 km. The paper describes a study for the following phase of the project that includes a crossing of the Lugano Lake. In order to check the technical feasibility of the proposed layout, a preliminary project of the crossing has been performed.
