By introducing the attenuation effects of target plate on the shock wave generated by the impact of a thin explosively-driven flyer plate from detonator in fuze train, a quantitative mathematical description of the shock-initiation energy delivered to a metal covered explosive is given. In comparison with the computational and experimental results, it was concluded that this theory is more valid in analyzing explosive train of fuze.
