Hot Disk Thermal Constants Analyser is normally used to determine the thermal transport properties of samples with a three-dimensional size comparable with the extension of the plane sensors or probes. However, it has been shown, that it is also possible to record the thermal transport properties of thin solid samples - provided these samples or slabs can be thermally insulated. One advantage of this technique is that a single transient recording is sufficient to determine both the thermal conductivity and the thermal diffusivity, provided a proper time window is used for the experimetnal recording. Based on the concept of sensitivity coefficients the selection of time windows for experiments on thin samples is demonstrated and discussed.
