The refrigeration effect that could be obtained from a G-M cryocooler at a particular temperature depends on various parameters like, pressure ratio, regenerator material, diameter and stroke of displacer, valve timings etc. The present paper attempts to develop a model for a single stage G-M cryocooler which enables one to study the effect of these parameters individually. The model is based on cyclic analysis of the cryocooler [1]. Experimentation is carried out to substantiate the model predictions in terms of refrigeration effect at different temperatures. The model after due validation could be used to design a G-M cryocooler for a required cooling capacity depending on application.
