Passive Radiant Cooler is used to cool the infrared detector to cryogenic temperature in the range of 105 K to 115 K. A number of uncertainties are present in the analytical prediction of cooler temperatures. Through the thermal balance tests the performance of cooler and validation of the mathematical model is done. These tests are conducted under simulated space environment for the extreme hot and extreme cold conditions in space. Tests were also planned and conducted to establish sensitivity between stages of the cooler and to update the thermal mathematical model. The model is updated from the test data and on-orbit performance is predicted.
