From the qualitative point of view there is a significant difference between time-based media and the data which are traditionally contained in database systems. Introducing multimedia objects like new primitives into the existing data modelling methodologies, like for example are entity models and their relationships or extended entity relation would represent a significant step towards surmounting the semantic gap between new program requirements made by multimedia applications and capabilities of program tools for modelling data. This paper renders one of the possible solutions to the above mentioned problem.
