Marine application of titanium

Creation of equipment and systems of marine structures, taking into account their remoteness from shores and very often Arctic conditions, requirement to ensure service life of equipment up to 25-50 years without or with minor repair, is possible only with broad using titanium alloys. A grandiose experiment has been carried out in Russia on marine application of titanium alloys in building the titanium submarine. A lot of scientific and technical problems were solved. However, there are problems which wait for further investigations. Presented in the paper are the results of operation of equipment and systems of titanium alloys; some aspects of solving the problems of an increase in marine application of titanium alloys are considered.
