In recent times the eigenprojection method has been revealed to be a powerful tool in the formulation of large deformation kinematics. With this tool it can be shown that from all objective corotational Eulerian rates only the logarithmic rate of the Hencky strain is equal to the rate of the deformation tensor D. Moreover, only the logarithmic rate is exactly integrable in the case of a hypoelastic material of grade zero.
