摘要

An overview of the pathogenesis of leptospirosis can include factors of virulence; host-pathogen relationships at the molecuar and cellular levels; inflammatory and host-associated factors. After leaving the abraded skin or intact mucous membrane, pathogenic Leptospira enters the bloodstream, enabling it to idsseminate throughout the body and invade various organ systems. At the first step, leptospirosis is a primary bacteremic infection. Leptospires are able to persist in some anatomically localized and immunologically privileged sites after antibody and phagocytes have cleared leptospires from all other sites. The severity of an infection and its rate of progression in a person or animal may reflect the size of the infecting dose.
