摘要

Laser Forming is a novel process for forming sheet metal. A de-focused laser spot is scanned across the work piece heating the sheet. On cooling thermal stresses cause piece to distort to attain its final component shape. Synchrotron strain is a relatively new and rapidly developing technique which allows high resolution internal strain measurements in light alloy components. In this paper the technique is used to measure the through-thickness strain field in 0.8mm thick laser formed Aluminium alloy sheet.
