In this study, an experimental rig for carbon dioxide was constructed for measurement of boiling heat transfer characteristics inside horizontal tubes. The test section is a horizontally placed smooth tube, of which inner diameter is 1mm, Experimental conditions are as following; evaporating temperature is 15°C, heat flux is between 9 and 36kW/m{sup}2, quality is from 0.1 to 0.9, mass flux is from 360 to 1440kg/m{sup}2s. The measurement results of boiling heat transfer and pressure drop in tubes are compared with those of fluorocarbons, which have been measured under the similar conditions.
