Bioleaching of Metal Sulfide Ores

摘要

The bioleaching process, whereby the leaching of sulfide minerals is catalysed by microorganisms, is described. The most important bacteria for hydrometallurgical applications, the mechanisms of bacterial oxidation, and recent improvements in reactor design and bioleaching kinetics are considered. The environmental and economic impacts of the process are stressed.
