摘要

The purpose of this study is to develop a test method to evaluate the interfacial tensile strength. In the present study, two types of carbon fibers were used to clarify the effect of the surface morphology on the interfacial tensile strength. The specimen has a carbon monofilament in the vicinity of the surface. 3-points bending tests were conducted on the specimen, so that the fiber/matrix interface was subjected to the tensile stress in transverse direction. Interfacial debonding was observed with optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The interfacial tensile strength was calculated using the finite element method (FEM). It is clarified that the fiber/matrix interfacial strength was improved by the irregular fiber surface.
