The effect of surfactants on low water cut oil-water flows in large diameter pipelines

Free water layer can be present at the pipe wall even at very low input water volume fraction (<= 20percent), and this free water layer causes extensive corrosion problems in oil-water flow. Addition of surfactant can enhance oil-water mixing, thus reducing corrosion.
