This paper presents the results of an incompressible multiphase flows numerical analysis utilizing a Coupled Level-Set/Volume-of-Fluid (CLSVOF) method. The breakup characteristics of liquid sheets formed by the impingement of two jets were simulated, aiming at clarifying the atomization characteristics of impinging jet injector. The coupled method combines the mass conservation properties of the volume-of-fluid (VOF) method with the accurate surface reconstruction properties of the level-set (LS) method, and generally superior to either method alone. Simulation results of the atomization process show good qualitative resemblance with the experimental results.
