摘要

General Motors de Mexiceo (GMM) Ramos Arizpe Complex (RAC) is located in an arid region in the Stater of Coahuila, in northeast Mexico. The Complex is currently withdrawing raw water from a small aquifer, that is shared by several other loacl industries. The aquifer has a limited water supply, with a relatively high salt and hardness content (1, 200-2,500 mg/l TDS, and 675-1700 mg/l TH as CaCO_3 respectively). These characteristics render the water unsuitable for process and potable water application. The aquifer water is treated using several reverse osmosis (RO) units, yielding a desalted permeate for process and potable water use, and a brine stream, the treatment of which is the subject of this report. Recovery from these RO units is limited to 67-70
