In this paper,we demonstrate that a collaborative relation ship between the operating system and applciatiosn can be sued to meet user-spoecified goals for battery duration.We first show how applicatiosn cna dynamically modify their behavior to conserve energy.we then show holw the Linusx operating system cna guide such adaptiation to yield a battery life of desired duration.By monitoring energy suply and demand,it is abe to seelct the correct tradeoff between energy onservation and application quality.Our evaluation shows that this approach can meet goals tht textend battery life by as much as 30
