Most prestressed concrete containment vessels (PCCVs) and reinforced concrete containment vessels (RCCVs) of nuclear power plants in Japan have liners as leak boundaries. The liners are set up on the inner surfaces of PCCVs and / or RCCVs. The purpose of this paper is to present basic experimental data and to decide the criteria for designing a T-shapedliner anchor embedded in PCCV and / or RCCV under earthquake. Pull out strength of a T-shaped liner anchor due to cone failure of concrete with / without cracks was examined. Tests results show that the present of cracks which are parallel and diagonal to T-shaped liner anchor does not affect the pull-out strength. It is also observed that the effect of compressive load on pull-out strength has a tendency to increase, but the relation is not clear.
