The four years since more than 5 thousand people died in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake when it hit the Kobe area in 1995 have passed swiftly. In Japan, however, we must be constantly alert to the possibility of disastrous earthquakes. Tominimize the injuries and damages, caused by such natural disasters, it is imperative to establish an earthquake prediction system.
