Liquid chromatography optical resolution has been developed during the past years. Cellulose or its derivatives have been used as chiral stationary phases (CSP) and have shown high chiral recognition abilities for a variety of racemic compounds. It has been widely accepted that aminopropylated spherical silica (APS) is a suitable support for polysaccharide derivatives to prepare chiral stationary phases. It is because that it decreases nonstereoselective interactions by deactivating the acidic silanol groups and increases the stability of the coating by providing sites for hydrogen bond formation with the carbamate.
