A boiler thermal system oriented engineering modular modeling (EMM) method is developed under the software environment of STAR-90 simulation support system, It is a software to realize the generalization of the boiler thermal characteristic calculation by creating block structure mathernatical simulation model. The overall construction of mathematical simulation model created by EMM method is quite similar to that of the actual system, so EMM method is easy to understand and master. EMM method has some advantages such as perfect generalization, fast modeling, online modifying the structure data and the connection of model blocks, no source code programming, versatile management of results and real time calculation. It can meet the engineering demands of analyses of the boiler thermal characteristics.
