Simple grinding experiments were carried out on ferrous and non-ferrous materials, which suggest that the high shear strains can give rise to burr formation. In this study, burr was observed in interrupted cut grinding, namely, roll-over burr formed on workpiece materials at the end of the grinding pass due to high shear strains generated. Deburring techniques on the roll-over burr on commercial machining taps were also studied.
