The New Global Virtual Private Network World Order

Global corporations and international government organizations are demanding cost-effective networks to connect their worldwide offices onto a seamless infrastructure. Telecommunications providers have entered into multilateral agreements to create global alliancess to provide virtual private network (VPN) voice services in this international marketplace. In addition, the World Trade Organization, the Federal Communications Commission, and governments worldwide have relaxed ownership rules and promoted competition to enable lower cost and enhanced telecommunications services. This paper will address the trends, initiatives, technical issues, cost issues, and market issues related to the evolving international VPN market.
