摘要

The probability distribution of the duration of fades plays an important role in communication systems performance analysis. It determines probable intervals of unreliable data. Many aapers were devoted to this distribution investigation. However, there is no close-form expression for hte fade durtion probability density function for the most popula models of fading. In this paper we propose an universal approach to finding approximations of the distribution: we approximte fading process with a Hidden markov Model and the derive a closed-form expression for the fade duration distribution on the basis of the HMM. This approach agrees with many experimental nad theoretical resuts prong that fading cn be accurately modeled by HMMs.
