To support multimedia aplications, future PCS networks will likely involve an advanced intercon-nected wireless and wireline network. This paper focuses on how a PCS network can compensate for and mitigate the effects of wireless channel errors. An error cotrol architecture for wireless ATM that utilizes interleaving in the physical layer, forward error ocrrection code in the wireless ATM adaptation layer, and selective Repeat automatic repeat request in the network layer is proposed. Moreover the FEC scheme in also includes error protection for the payload, which is a strong distinction form the traditional ATM implementation to combat channel error.
