Local treatment with cationized antioxidant enzymes reduces experimental colitis in the rat

摘要

The inflammatory process of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) is associated with tissue damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS). A possible cause for this injury is the low capacity of endogenous antioxidants in the colon. It has already been shown that systemic tretments with antioxidant enzymes can lower colon inflammation severity.
