The overall objective of this work was to design and study a radiosensitizer delivery system for the treatment of musculoskeletal tumors, such as Ewing's sarcoma. The current treatment of Ewing's sarcoma and other soft tissue sarcomas relies heavily on the use of high dose radiation therapy. The radiosensitizing drug paclitaxel (Taxol) is efficacious against many cancer cells because it blocks cells at the radiosensitive G2/M interface of the cell cycle.
