By adjusting the PEPO content in copolymers, the strength of interaction between copolymers and epoxy could be controlled. As the result, the change of macrostructure, phase separation, occurred at a certain content of PEPO (20% of copolymers). Furthermore, the microstructure could also be adjusted with different PEPO content in copolymers. Accordingly, the mechanical properties were essentially affected by the chemical structures of materials. This knowledge is one of key factors in the design of materials with expected properties. On the academic side, the copolymer walls formed in the cases of Epx-(20:80) and Epx-(10:90) (both 20% wt) are probably good models for interphase and definitely needed further study.
