Granted ISO 14001 does more to document items and formalizes an improvement process. But its' a tough sell to Whirlpool and I suspect other industries who have an effective EMS. The extra steps that 14001 may add to an already overburdened staff is a critical concern. Extra manpower is at an alltime low. "More with less" is a frequently heard phrase in industry. We are extremely reluctant to suggesting additional processes in a company who is focused on eliminating steps. ISO 14001 represents more work for all involved.
