Although energy demand and the need for transportation fuels are growing fairly rapidly, many refiners find themselves in a world of high capital requirements, squeezed margins, stressed staff and management, financial under performance and dissatisfied shareholders. It is essential to know what is going to happen to our industry before making investments for the future. In the past over investment has taken place in many places and the over capacity from these areas is spilling over into the high growth areas. This has been a major cause of margin erosion.
