The structural behavior of beam-to-column connections reinforced by increasing the plate thickness of column at the connection area without inner diaphragms seems to he different from those of connection with inner diaphragms. The structural behavior of beam-and-column subassemblages with increased column thickness at the connection area in addition to the horizontal haunch of beam at the connection side are investigated by the cyclic reversal loading test The case studies are presented to discuss the structural performance of beam-to-column connections by using finite element analysis and yield line theory with respect to two types of connection, that is, (1) the heain4ocolumn connection reinforced by increasing the column thickness at the connection area, and (2) the beam-to-column connection reinforced by increasing the column thickness at the connection area with the horizontal haunch of beam at the connection side.
