In the present aiding mixed convection study, the flow and heat transfer characteristics of the developing turbulent flow in distributed heated modules along the lower wall of a rectangular channel have been investigated. The time averaged mass,momentum and energy equations along with the k-e equations for turbulent closure are solved. A special explicit method, namely MAC (Marker and Cell) is used to solve those governing equations. In the present paper, the effect of buoyancy force on forcedconvection has been studied through a comparative study of the distribution of Nusselt number on the right wall of the channel for cases from forced convection to free convection including mixed convection. The computation is carried out for Reynolds number of 5000 with various Grashof numbers ranging from l×10{sup}4 to l×10{sup}12. The detailed analysis is presented through streamline, turbulent kinetic energy contour, and temperature contour.
