摘要

Recovery and recrystallization play a significant role during mechanical shaping of Al alloys in reducing flow stresses and frequency of defect formation. In thermomechanical processing, they influence product properties through grain size, substructure density and texture; notably, recovery contributes to a balance of high strength and toughness. Dynamic recovery in Al increases gradually through the cold, warm and hot working ranges permitting easy control of effects. The range of equivalent behavior is shifted to higher temperatures as the concentration of solutes and particles increase. Recrystallization is much more sensitive to temperature and alloying and the dynamic form has restricted occurrence in Al alloys. The control of these mechanisms in processes such as extrusion and rolling demand separate consideration.
