Lightweight improved soil (LIS) is used as countermeasure for settlement or earth pressure due to soil lightness and increased shear strength. Dredged soil, which was used in an effort to utilize waste materials, was improved with air foam and cement slurry in this study. Unconfined and triaxial compression tests were performed on specimens in various air foam ratios and curing terms. A method to predict the unconfined compressive strengths (q_(u, pre)) for this soil was developed and the properties of LIS in triaxial compression tests were shown using the stresses normalized by q_(u, pre).
