Theoretical techniques are described for modelling the acoustic performance of certain types of materials used in underwater sound applications. Specifically, the paper describes methods used for modelling sound propagation through air-filled materials, presenting a simple theory for the pressure dependency. Theoretical predictions are then compared with measurements, demonstrating good agreement between theory and experiment for a typical case.
