A cellular automata model of the expansion of the assyrian empire

A simple cellular automata model is used to simulate some aspects fo the expansion of the Assyrian empire from the XIV to the VII century b.C.The model assumes that an "Assyrian cell" expands to neighboring ells based n five factors: (1) the physicla and (2) political penetrabilituy of cells,(3) the initial exapnisv eforce of the Assyrians,(4) the decay of local expanisive force with increeasifng distance from the originary cell,(5) the increase in expansive force due to locally acquired resources.We discuss various mehtodologicla issues and the genreality of the model.
