Design of computer support systems for knowledge based organizations requires simple ways for settign up communication facilities for knowledge sharing. The paper proposes that such services be provided by an infrastructure levle made up of enhanced networking technologies that support common knowledge sharing activities. The paper describes ways of identifying such activities in terms of workplaces and gives a number of examples.
